Defining Education
I designed and illustrated 12 “Cheat Sheet” posters for the Chinese tutor YY Lam 補習名師林溢欣及其精英團隊 (Previously under 遵理學校 Beacon College, now 凝皓教育 Definition Education). Following the brief provided by the client, I transformed the study notes of HKDSE Chinese Set Texts into colourful posters with engaging and memorable characters, illustrations and comics.
It was definitely a challenge to fit all the text-heavy information onto one A3 page, but with trial and error, testing different layouts and concepts, the results turn out to be beautiful, and were very well received by students and client alike.
Kudos to the super creative and trusting YY Lam team for coming up with such impressive content to make revision tenfold effective and fun for students! I sure wish I had these when I was having my DSEs.
DR-Max
DR-Max makes teaching materials for children ages 0-15, with the special feature of a reader-pen which helps children interact with the worksheets better. In spring of 2022, they launched《凝皓六段》, a brand new Chinese teaching material series prepared by YY Lam & his elite team of Defining Education (林溢欣及其精英團隊), crossover with Pigaboo characters which appear in the form of page borders and cliparts.
By making pigaboos bump into each other, go on rides and trips, exercise and meditate, I hope to show children that learning opportunities are everywhere, not only on paper, but also in nature, in silence, in the unseen.
Forward Education
Forward Education is where everything started! Amy, my long time friend and the founder of Forward Education, approached me to design the mascots for the centre. So the firefly crew was born, taking on a life of their own. Amy incorporated the mascots creatively into games and activities for her students, and worked closely with me throughout the years to create more interesting designs.
Forward Education is now merged with Defining Childhood, where the happy mascots still live on.
Aspiration Education
Aspiration Education approached me to create a new brochure to promote the new exam preparation courses for the new school year.
In this design, students are represented by little clouds, dreamers climbing towards the mountaintop guided by teachers with pencil-hats. To highlight the virtual learning aspect of the courses, I included some residential interior elements such as cabinets and table lamps on the schedule pages.
All illustrative elements in the brochure are saved separately into png files for client to reuse them easily in other marketing or teaching materials.
